Ain't it Funny?
Ain't it funny how she has captured her heart?
Like simply, the sight of her could make her fall apart.
How she’s an uninspired painter, yet her lover’s a missing piece of art
She could call her her girlfriend, but that wouldn’t be smart
Because once she starts to tell, the world’s intolerance would break them apart.
Ain't it funny.
Ain't it funny, how the flowers bloom, and the birds chirp, and the moments go?
And two boys stand on the beach, hand and hand and toe to toe
But they can’t stay together if they want any dough
Because gentrification is high, and employment rates are low
Ain't it funny.
Ain't it funny how she just turned eighteen, and wished to see the world?
And now it’s finally safe for her to go and see her girl
Who cares about the world, when it is cold, and she is not
For once she’s found her joy, all her sorrow is forgot
Ain’t it funny.
Ain't it funny, we live in a world in which concrete has taken over flower fields and grass?
Yet we still see moss and flowers, growing through the cracks
We overtake our weeds, and what we find opposed
For we all age, we all grow, and some day, we hope to know.
